Baybeats 2018: Mooner
19 Aug 2018, 10:10 PM - 10:50 PM
Mooner has its origins in a weekly jamming session between three members of different Indonesian rock bands—Absar from The Slave, Tama from Sigmun and Rekti from The Sigit. Within a year, they wrote 12 songs of heavy-fuzzy rock and roll inspired by ’70s underground heavy rock with a hint of proto punk, and recruited Marshella Safira to provide female vocals, resulting in a blend of heaviness and melodies.
In 2017, they released these songs as their debut album Tabiat, on Bhang Records in Indonesia and Outer Battery Records in the US and Europe, garnering acclaim from Prog Magazine for their approach that amalgamates traditional music with modern psychedelic rock. Currently, the band is working on their latest album, exploring their traditional and cultural aspiration through modern and contemporary musical instruments.
