24 Nov 2018, 12:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Music; a language of the universe, and what better way to celebrate this form of expression than at a music festival. Pesta Tiga Negara 2018 – or its direct translation “Festival of 3 Countries 2018” – is a fun-filled music festival which gathers independent artistes from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Organised by local event entrepreneurs Global Entertainment Production & Axentika Events Pte Ltd.

Local performing bands include dynamic quartet The Pinholes - a class act in the vibrant Singapore music scene known for their classic Rock & Roll songs, mopish hairstyles & retro outfits recognise as the “Brown Beatles”, 3-piece alternative rock band Ambassador and the well-known surf punk rockers Force Vomit - recently hit the stage at Baybeats 2018 @ the Esplanade. MOTUS - an acronym for Movement On The Upside – will be the opening act for this festival. MOTUS is a collective of instrumentalists, percussionists and dancers with their own brand of samba funk. The 19-piece Batucada Pop ensemble has also recently performed at the Singapore Night Festival held in late August.

As for the Malaysian counterpart, pop/alternative rock bands OAG and Hujan will serenade the audience with their catchy and upbeat tunes. OAG, or “Old Automated Garbage” as what it stands for, was one of the first English language Indie bands in Malaysia to gain huge attention from the mainstream music audience.

OAG, celebrating their 26th anniversary this year is one of the biggest acts to rise out of the underground scene with Hujan going through a similar upsurge a decade later. Expectations are naturally high especially for Hujan, the nation’s breakthrough phenomenal Indie outfit whose album sales has exceeded an impressive number of 10,000 units.

Indonesia has sent their equally talented artistes to represent the nation for this exemplary event – Jamaican-influenced “krontjong” crew Sir’iyai and Jakarta-based group D’Masiv. Sir’iyai is a Bandung-based ska/reggae pop group with traditional “keroncong” influences noticeably projected in their songs. As for the latter, D’Masiv - the band’s name is frequently associated with other top Indonesian Artistes such as Ungu, Nidji, Noah & Rossa, thanks to the popularity of their songs, they are nominated as best duo / group for “Anugerah Planet Musik 2018, Singapore”

This 11-hour festival is set to be held at the West Coast Park Grand Lawn. One can expect to see people from all walks of life come together – regular concert & festival goers, travellers, hipsters, our local youth, International students and even domestic helpers. Ticket prices range from $88 for the early birds to $128 at-the-door.

This distinctive showcase of the Asian evergreen indie music is a truly an event not to be missed!
