To cap off 2018, Bennett Bay returns to Esplanade Concourse for a series of three shows on New Year’s Eve, together with Jana Ann and Rachel (from midst). This will be the last show for Bennett in 2018, and marks the beginning of new musical endeavours in 2019. Bennett and friends will play songs old and new, from his albums Compass and In Memory Of, which was released in September this year. The performances will feature new arrangements written by Bennett of songs by John Denver (USA), Goo Goo Dolls (USA), Last Dinosaurs (AU) and more.
About Bennett Bay
Bennett Bay is a musician based in Singapore. Since starting his solo project mid-2015, he has been making his mark on the local arts scene. Following his debut performance at the Esplanade Concourse, Bay has gone on to perform at Red Dot Design Museum, as part of the bi-yearly MAAD Sounds!, and SingJazz Club. Subsequently, he was invited to perform at the inaugural Neon Lights Festival held at the Fort Canning Park. Bay released his debut single Komorebi in April 2016, his debut LP Compass in January 2017, and most recently his sophomore full-length album In Memory Of in September 2018. Bay was also invited to perform at Electric Picnic in Ireland, where he was featured amongst a number of internationally renowned acts such as Phoenix (FR), Duran Duran (UK), The xx (UK) and more.
Bennett Bay is a Mosaic Associate Artist, exceptional musicians at the forefront of their genres, whom Esplanade has committed to providing tailored, intensive support.
About Jana Ann
Young blood with an old soul, Jana Ann is a Singapore-based singer-songwriter who first gained recognition for her music through online platforms such as YouTube and Soundcloud. Influenced by the jazz and R&B sensibilities of Frank Sinatra (USA), Tori Kelly (USA) and NAO (UK), Ann's smooth riffs and runs are sure to captivate any listener. Having collaborated with different Singapore musicians for various projects, she is currently working on creating more original content to release in the near future.
About Rachel (midst)
Rachel Cheng is the vocalist of local band midst, who are a collective of instrumentally-driven electronic ambient heads. Formed in 2013, they released their debut EP in 2016.
