It will also feature a guest collaboration with Soulmstrs, a soul vocal trio Farhan Shah was a part of that competed at the World Championships of Performing Arts (2013) in Hollywood, bringing home gold medals for Singapore.
About Farhan Shah
Farhan Shah’s music is inspired by the likes of artists such as Brian McKnight (USA), Justin Timberlake (USA), Christina Aguilera (USA), Alif (SG), Flume (AU) and Daniel Caesar (CA). Growing up listening to and performing a range of genres from jazz, soul and blues to R&B and pop, the signature hints of brass instruments in his songs are often infused with infectious beats, soulful vocals and cheeky lyrics.
Farhan has released a total of five Malay hit singles which managed to top the RIA 89.7FM’s Hitz Minggu Ini charts; the charming Istimewa; Hanya Satu, a heartfelt ode to his mother; an energetic take on unrequited love in Terjatuh Hati; and Racun, an empowering and liberating anthem against toxic relationships, which won Best Song at Anugerah Planet Muzik (2018).
About Brass Nation
Brass Nation is a nine-piece brass ensemble based in Singapore that incorporates elements of soul, funk, hip hop, rock and pop music within a contemporary brass band framework. The band consists of veteran musicians who have been playing their respective musical instruments for over 10 years.
Inspired by The Soul Rebels (USA), Brass Nation started out in 2013 playing covers for private shows and community engagement programmes, quickly realising that there is a demand for roving brass bands in Singapore. They add a dash of their own creativity into the covers, giving audiences a fresh take on the songs they used to listen to. As the band grows, Brass Nation has taken to inviting guest musicians who play other instruments like guitars, bass and keyboards to join in their performances, experimenting with the new sounds brought to the table.
