Singapore in my bones by LESLIE LOW
Leslie Low will be playing numbers from a new collection of songs that he hopes will be ready for release in 2019. Drawing inspiration from life in Singapore, and his recent move across the island, the songs touch on themes of displacement, anticipation, settling down, and finding one’s own pace. He will also be playing some songs from his more recent albums Nature, Child of the Island, and Singapore in my Bones.
About the artistLeslie Low started his musical life playing with bands like Twang Bar Kings, Humpback Oak and The Observatory. He also played sporadically with Magus, Pan Gu, Piblokto, and Hanging Up the Moon. More recently, he has taken a backseat with the band setting and has released a string of solo albums in the folk acoustic vein. Two of these were recorded live and unadorned in the studio; Nature and Child of the Island. A collection of demos recorded on his phone titled Singapore in my Bones was also recently released for Pameran Poskad, an exhibition series by Keyakismos.
Melancholic and reflective in nature, his songs are inspired by the personal, subjective, and introverted mindset of living here in Singapore. Usually playing in open-tuning on an acoustic six-string guitar, he is currently working on a new batch of songs that are slated for a 2019 release.
