What's the difference between a vacuum cleaner and a viola? A viola actually doesn't suck, but it would definitely suck if you didn't attend Potpourri: Viola in Different Lights, our viola recital!

Not just the name of a flower, the viola is also an instrument with a mellow, sonorous tone that have been described by many as 'resembling the human voice'. Also, like the violin, the viola is an instrument capable of virtuosic display and great expressiveness. As such, a potpourri of tunes from composers including Telemann, Hummel, Campagnoli, Dale, Marx and Busche have been hand-picked to showcase exactly these different shades of the instrument.

Programme:

Telemann - Fantasias no. #3 and #4, TWV 40:16-17

Benjamin Dale - Come away Death, from 2 Songs from Shakespeare Op. 9 no. 2

Adolf Busch - Drei Lieder Op. 3a

Hummel - Potpourri Op. 94

Are the seeds of curiosity now growing in you? Nurture it during a magical evening at Potpourri: Viola in Different Lights, and let the viola's warmth bloom in your soul.
