Combining spell-binding technique with artistic wizardry, his guitar renditions of contemporary, jazz, broadway and classical tunes have gone viral on YouTube, having been viewed over 400 million times around the globe.
Sungha Jung perform a type of guitar music known among enthusiasts as fingerstyle. In this virtuosic style of music, the guitarist uses the guitar like a piano, and proceeds to perform the melody, bass, accompaniment and percussion all on a single instrument.
2017 is a special year for Sungha. He will be releasing his seventh solo album; and is visiting Singapore for the seventh consecutive year. Fans at last year's show fondly recall and appreciate Sungha's touching gesture to connect with the Singapore crowd as he carefully arranged and performed Ji De and Jiang Nan, songs originally sung by local Mandarin pop star JJ Lin. Since then, Sungha has successfully found and developed his own sound on the guitar. His diverse repertoire of skills give him the unique ability to craft engaging arrangements of popular songs, all the while preserving their musical and emotional essence. His recent rendition of Spirited Away's Inochi no Namae is an excellent example of his exceptional arranging skills, where he overcame the traditional limitations of the guitar to perform a hauntingly beautiful cover of this award winning piece, augmented with seventh chords and well-placed harmonics to create the mental picture of a wistful summer. Similarly, in the K-pop and Western Pop arena, his performances of BTS' Blood Sweat & Tears, and Justin Bieber's Love Yourself have received rave reviews and impressive viewership on Youtube.
Come expecting an unforgettable night of guitar music featuring a carefully-chosen set list of originals and crowd favorites!
