Dawn Ho, a jazz, bossa nova and samba vocalist hailing from Singapore, began her informal training in singing at the age of eight with The Amazing Grace Presbyterian church choir. Her vocal timbre makes her a natural in jazz and bossa nova, and her style has been described as sophisticated and vibrant with a tinge of sexiness. As a veteran in the Singapore music scene, Ho has performed in numerous music festivals and corporate events locally and in the region and beyond in places such as Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Brunei, Taiwan, Los Angeles, and for VISA delegates at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
After a few years of attending private and master classes from the likes of New York vocal coach Tania Travers, the legendary Barry Harris and Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist Kurt Elling, her hunger to better understand and execute her craft led Ho to pursue her BA HONS in Jazz Performance with LASALLE College of the Arts. She has since graduated and for this performance, she shares the stage with her fellow cohort members of jazz composers and artists, Joe Lee and Rendra Hairul as well as some like-minded creatives, Axel Ante, Audrey Tengkey, Navin Kumar Nagpal and Yap Ting Wei, to present their originals and music which inspired their compositions for you as a collective —meet Astral + Company.
