About Art Fazil

Art Fazil was the founding member of Rausyanfikir, the folk trio that presented the industry with alternative ethno-folk-rock-pop music combined with socially conscious lyrics. The band went on to produce two critically acclaimed albums.

In 1990, Art was signed as a songwriter with Warner Music Publishing (Singapore), actively writing for regional acts in both English and Malay languages. In 1993, he was signed to Pony Canyon Records (Singapore) as a solo artist.

In between two Malay albums, Art recorded his eponymous album of self–penned English songs. The album produced two top 10 hits in the Singapore Perfect 10 Charts, Sometimes When I Feel Blue (which rose to #2) and Everybodyelse (which rose to #4). That year, Art also won the 1995 COMPASS Best English Song Award, followed by a COMPASS Best Malay Song Award for Dikir Fikir Fikir in 1997, a track from the second Rausyanfikir album. He also won the Tympnali Songwriter’s Competition (held as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival) in August 1997.

Art moved to the United Kingdom in 1995 and focused on writing and performing in the British music singer/songwriter acoustic music circuit. He travelled and performed extensively in the England, Scotland and Wales club circuit, with a brief stint in Istanbul, Turkey, in between.

He has played at various venues all over the country, including the world famous The Kashmir Klub, The Regal Room, The Twelve Bar Club, Bungies, Moles (Bath), Penny Theatre (Cantebury), Edinburgh Fringe Festival etc.

About Bobby Singh

Singapore born Bobby Singh is one of the most talented and respected percussionists in South East Asia. His began at the age of five when he was part of the family band and thereafter attending the Pracheen Kala Kendra Music School in New Delhi, where he graduated in Indian classical music. He specialises in Indian, African and Latin American rhythms, and is adept at playing the tabla, among other percussion instruments including western drums, the cajon (drum box) of Peruvian region, congas, bongos, timbales, djembe, udu, darabouka, surdo drums, tamborim and timbal.

Bobby plays a wide range of styles and music genres, including pop, jazz, Brazilian and Latin, and continues to explore the rhythms of world music. His adaptability and ability to improvise, coupled with his years of experience and exposure, has made him a prominent figure and established his music beyond Singapore. Apart from being an excellent musician, he’s also a music educator.

He has also been featured in recordings by Blair’s Bunch, Asha Bhosle, Art Faizil, Marina Xavier, Late Amran, Jessica Soo, David Bowie (Let’s Dance remix) Jack Lee And Lewis Pragasam (Seoul) and Othrie Barrett Jr, among others.
