Welly Tjandra is a guitarist who is involved in many music events in Singapore as well as Indonesia. He has performed at Java Jazz On The Move, Esplanade’s Jazz in July, Ngayogjazz, and many other music events. He is also a recording sessionist and conducts workshop. Welly Tjandra was teaching music in Singapore for five years from 2010-2015, before he went on to teach at a renowned international school in Jakarta, Indonesia. He is influenced by Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Oscar Peterson, Bireli Lagrene, Andreas Oberg, Jonathan Kreisberg, John Scofield, Frank Gambale, Guthrie Govan, Lee Ritenour, Joe Pass, Charlie Parker, Ulf Wakenius, Dewa Budjana, among others. He recently released an album My Adventure on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, Google music, and other platforms.
Singapore born Bobby Singh began at the age of five when he was part of the family band and thereafter attending the Pracheen Kala Kendra Music School in New Delhi, where he graduated in Indian classical music. He specialises in Indian, African and Latin American rhythms, and is adept at playing the tabla, among other percussion instruments including western drums, the cajon (drum box) of Peruvian region, congas, bongos, timbales, djembe, udu, darabouka, surdo drums, tamborim and timbal.
Bobby plays a wide range of styles and music genres, including pop, jazz, Brazilian and Latin, and continues to explore the rhythms of world music. His adaptability and ability to improvise, coupled with his years of experience and exposure, has made him a prominent figure and established his music beyond Singapore. Apart from being an excellent musician, he’s also a music educator. He has also been featured in recordings by Blair’s Bunch, Asha Bhosle, Art Faizil, Marina Xavier, Late Amran, Jessica Soo, David Bowie (Let’s Dance remix) Jack Lee And Lewis Pragasam (Seoul) and Othrie Barrett Jr, among others.
An architect by day, Rocky Yulianto has been exploring music since childhood, starting with classical guitar, and later as a self-taught musician pursuing his interests in jazz, funk and gospel music. He is a multi-instrumentalist, although his passion is the bass instrument. He is influenced by Jaco Pastorius, James Jamerson, Victor Wooten, and Sharay Reed. He plays bass for his local church in Singapore.
