This music performance features xinyao, a genre of Mandarin songs that are composed and sung by Singaporeans. Listen to popular xinyao songs, sing along and learn more about Singapore’s music history and the birth and development of xinyao in the 1980s and 1990s.

Through the melodies and lyrics, students will be able to develop an awareness and appreciation of xinyao and gain a better understanding of the social and cultural changes that Singapore went through. This popular programme will be held in the intimate Esplanade Recital Studio this year.
