Join the conversation between poet-singer Deborah Emmanuel and DJ-instrumentalist Stew Bamrah as they explore the idea of togetherness and separation using poetry, song, didgeridoo, guitar and multidimensional sound.

About Deborah Emmanuel

Deborah Emmanuel is a Singapore poet, performer and four-time TEDx speaker. As a slam poet, she has won competitions in Singapore, Germany and Australia. Her work has been to Melbourne, Berlin, London, New York City and Kathmandu, and s​he has toured alongside​ ​people​​ ​like​ ​Anthony Anaxagorou​ ​and Sarah Kay​. ​Deborah​ is the writer of When I Giggle In My Sleep (2015) and Rebel Rites (2016). When not writing or performing poetry, she also makes music with Wobology, Mantravine, The Ditha Project and Kiat, She also creates movement pieces, teaches workshops, draws illustrations and devises independent theatre.



About Stew Bamrah

Stew Bamrah is a DJ and didgeridoo player. His DJ sets are built on a foundation of funk, disco, hip hop, African, Latin, reggae, house and drum n bass, focusing on solid grooves into which he weaves live didgeridoo. Stew also accompanies fellow DJs, performers and bands, creating sounds that blend in smoothly with the music.

As one of two resident Sideshow DJs, he sets up a chilled family-friendly vibe at Sunday on the Hill, and feeds the dancefloor at the Sunday at the Shed parties. He regularly plays at underground events, and has played gigs in the UK, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Switzerland and France.

Stew believes that a performance should take the listener on a globe-trotting, time-travelling expedition full of twists, turns and experiments.
