A much sought-after Hindustani Classical music vocalist, Sanjeev Abhyankar is an artiste of international repute and is today one of the leading exponents of the Mewati Gharana. Groomed under the tutelage of Pandti Jasraj, Sanjeev Abhyankar is the recipient of many prestigious awards, including the Kumar Gandharva National Award and the National Award for Best Playback Singer.
The only Indian violinist to be featured in the Violin Bible, “The Strad”, recognised as the fifty best instrumentalists in the world by the ‘Songlines Magazine’, and a Grammy nominee for her album ‘Miles from India’, Kala Ramnath with her ‘singing violin’ is beyond doubt a classical violinist of global stature. Vidushi Kala Ramnath, also of the Mewati Gharana, she trained under Gurus Narayana Iyer and N Rajam, and further trained wand accompanied Pandit Jasraj. She was recently conferred the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akedemi 2016 award for Hindustani Instrumental Music.
In this unusual pairing of a vocalist and a violinist, Yukta will consist of two solo portions by Sanjeev and Kala, and an exciting collaborative presentation as a finale. They will be accompanied by Harshad Kanetkar and Miland Kulakarnion tabla and harmonium.
