B-L Piano Duo
15 Mar 2018, 6:45 PM - 7:15 PM
The award-winning B-L Piano Duo presents a selection of their favourite piano duets, comprising a mix of contemporary works and familiar favourites from the repertoire.
The B-L Piano Duo was born of a shared love of the vast and varied piano duo repertoire. Formed in 2013 at the Royal College of Music in London, they were awarded the Royal Over-Seas League Ensemble Prize (Strings & Piano Ensembles Section) in 2017.
The duo has a special interest in performing both neglected musical obscurities as well as contemporary music. They have worked with world-renowned composers as diverse as David Lang and Michael Finnissy on their music – furthermore, they have also been active in commissioning new works for the piano duo repertoire, all this a testament to their commitment to performing the music of today. Recent projects have included among other things, a performance of Boulez’s monumental sur Incises, as well as a recital of theatrical contemporary piano duos at London’s Bloomsbury Festival.
