SMU Symphonia Bio

From its humble beginnings as a small ensemble in 2003, SMU Symphonia has grown leaps and bounds over the last 15 years into a full-fledged wind and strings symphony. Established by a group of passionate musicians, the symphony is now one of the most prestigious clubs in SMU's Arts and Cultural Fraternity and is also part of the Arts Excellence Programme in SMU. The current conductor of SMU Symphonia is Adrian Chiang. SMU Symphonia participates actively in school events such as SMU Arts Fest, SMU Patron’s Day and SMU Open House, and holds regular concerts every year. Twice a year, the club holds tune-in sessions to welcome prospective students and freshmen to make music together. Its rigorous music enrichment programme includes exchanges with overseas wind bands and participation in international band festivals. They have also worked with internationally acclaimed conductors such as James Keene (USA), Timothy Reynish (UK) and Eric Watson (Singapore).
